OBJECTIVE

Your personal brand is a visual representation that lets people know what you stand for, what you believe in, and what skills you can offer. It’s an opportunity to show your personality and overall brand persona. Using Adobe Illustrator, you will create a personal visual identity to represent not only your unique style but your professional persona to appeal to future employers.

CHALLENGES

I wanted to design a unique logo that would encapsulate both my femininity and artistic essence, two essential components of my brand identity. The difficulty lay in crafting a logo that not only captured this but also retained a professional appearance.

PROCESS

Tools used: Adobe Illustrator

Timeline: 3 weeks

RESEARCH

Before the sketching phase, I curated a mood board from various Pinterest designs to spark inspiration and refine my vision for the logo. I gravitated towards incorporating initials, script fonts, and small yet distinctive symbols like bows, stars, and cherries, drawn from visual cues that resonated with me.

SKETCHES

As I experimented with sketching my initials, I discovered that refining the letters 'S' and 'L' was pretty seamless, integrating well with a cursive-style script. The bow emerged as a symbol of choice, as it embodied the qualities of femininity and artistic expression that I sought to convey in the logo.

COMPS

Moving my sketch into Illustrator, I rendered my chosen bow and incorporated my initials into the two tails of the bow. I selected a script font that complemented the symbol and decided to forego bright colors in favor of a sleek and professional finish for the logo.

FINAL

In response to feedback from my peers, I reorganized the visual hierarchy on the back of the business card and incorporated a smaller version of my logo. Additionally, I made the decision to exclude my LinkedIn information and reduce the intensity/vibrancy of the cream color. These adjustments were then applied to the letterhead design as well.
