Select a topic that interests you and would be appropriate for a magazine (publication can be real or fictitious). Create a two-page magazine feature spread on your selected topic. Describe the magazine, define the target audience and keep them in mind when creating your piece.
The main challenge was achieving a harmonious visual flow between the two pages of the spread while trying to implement the design elements from my original rough. I struggled to balance the layout to accommodate both the curve-wrapping text and accompanying visuals. Additionally, working with a grid and considering factors like bleed and trim added an extra layer of complexity to the design process.

My aim was to craft a magazine spread focused on sustainable fashion, a subject I am passionate about. The intended audience was the 18-22 age group, including individuals possibly navigating a tighter budget. While drawing inspiration from publications like L’Officiel, i-D, and W Magazine, I wanted to add an abstract twist, incorporating elements reminiscent of early 2000s fashion magazines, such as the use of collages.
I narrowed down my ten sketches to my two favorite designs that were less traditional/more abstract.
Implementing curve-wrapped text for the spread appealed to me, especially in creating an abstract design to appeal to my target younger audience, but I encountered my first challenge when attempting to integrate the curve into a strong and organized layout. Much of this phase involved experimenting with placeholder text and images, and repeatedly adjusting and rearranging the layout until I achieved a result that met my satisfaction.
